Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar presented a paper  at National Conference organized by the Council of Islamic Ideology Pakistan. The theme of the Conference was "Interfaith Harmony and Teachings of the Holy Prophet".  The Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Qibla Ayaz presided over. In his speech on the topic of "Interfaith Harmony and Post-CPEC Scenario" Dr. Fakhar argued that Islam fully protects the rights of minorities. He said all sects of Muslims need to show respects to others' denominations, only in this way peace can be ensured in Pakistan. He dwelt in detail about CPEC and said that it would usher an era of prosperity in Pakistan. He said that the Post-CPEC Pakistan would be a stable country. Interfaith and intrafaith harmony would be all the more important for Post-CPEC Pakistan. Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Qibla Ayaz delivered his presidential address. He gave a background of the conditions before the birth of the Holy Prophet. He analyzed the positive changes after the Holy Prophet. Qari Roohullah, Qari tayyib Qureshi, Dr. Rashad and Dr. Abdur rahman also spoke on the occasion.




A two member delegation of Turkey visited Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar. The foreign dignitaries included Mr. Mehmat Karakus, Director of Istanbul based Muarif International Educational Foundation and Mr. Fazli Puskul Principal Pak-Turk School and College Peshawar. Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam welcomed the guests and presented them shields and publications of the Centre. Both the sides exchanged views and discussed maters of mutual cooperation. The delegation also had a round of the Centre. Pakistani colleagues of the guests,  Dr. Mirza Hakim and Kaleem Anwar also accompanied them.


The Election Commission and Pakistan Study Centre held a joint seminar on “The Role of Election Commission in Strengthening of Democracy”. Director General Election Commission of Pakistan Nighat Siddique, Election Commission KP chief Pir Maqbool Ahmad, Haroon Khan Shinwari and Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Dr Fakhr-ul-Islam spoke on the occasion.


 Dr. Fakhar said that Election Commission is a constitutional body and it was a privilege for his center to work with it. He paid rich tribute to EC for its role and  recently introduced reforms. Director General Election Commission of Pakistan Nighat Siddique thanked Pakistan study Centre for putting voluntary services of its students at the disposal of EC. She stressed the need of providing facilities to women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups to participate freely in the electoral process. 


Pri Maqbool Ahmad Election Commissioner KP said that due to its exemplary performance, ECP has been declared as one of the best commissions in the world. Harun Khan Shinwari Gender Coordinator EC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that 30 female students of Pakistan Study Centre have completed their training as Volunteers of ECP. They will play a proactive role in the forthcoming elections. Dr. Khan Faqir, Focal Person of Volunteer Program presented a report on the functioning of Corp of Volunteers.
