PSC holds National Consultation on “The Role of Highly Qualified Human Resource in National Development”

Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar arranged National Consultation on “The Role of Highly Qualified Human Resource in National Development”. The consultation was attended by top scholars from various universities of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkwa. They included Vice Chancellors, Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans, Professors and young academicians. A two-member delegation from China also attended the event. 

In his opening remarks, Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar said that the event was jointly organized by his Centre and PhD Forum KP. The objective was to assess how a workable research agenda can be devised for conducting research contributing towards national development. Vice Chancellor Iqra National University Prof. Dr. Farzand Ali Jan, Ex-Pro Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr Nur Muhammad, National Defense University Islamabad’s Prof. Dr Kamran Azam, Prof. Dr Abdussalam and Dr Raees Gul from Islamia College University, Dr. Shaukat Ali from Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Dr. Jamaluddinn from Qurtuba University, Prof. Dr Izharullah from Gomal University D.I. Khan, Prof. Dr  Said Wahab  Prof. Dr  Muhammad Idrees from Agricultural University, Prof. Dr Muhammad Rauf and Prof. Dr Arshad Ali from IER Peshawar University, Dr. Muhammad Nasir from Northern University Nowshehra, Prof Dr. Amir Nawaz Khan Director National Disaster Management Organization, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad from UET,  and others spoke on the occasion. Prof. Dr Arbab Khan Afridi Director National Academy on Human Resource presided over the consultation.

The speakers were unanimous on the point that the highly qualified human resource in the universities has not been involved in national development so far. The bureaucracy is not ready to take these professionals on board. They said time has come that they should take initiative themselves and set an agenda of research so that the nation can benefit from their expertise.
